Windows 7 on the Libretto U100
Today I managed to install the build 7000 van Windows 7 Beta on my Libretto U100!
From some forums I’d already learned that Windows 7 Beta is pretty stable and much hardware is already supported. Also for my U100, almost everything worked out of the box:
- Screen resolution: 1280×768 working, although the VGA chip is not recognized
- WiFi is working
- Sound, working
- Bluetooth working with default Toshiba bluetoothstack driver for Windows XP
- Fingerprint reader, not working yet
- One unknown device. have to fihure out what that is
The overall performance is very good. Much better that Vista! All themes are working.
I have to check the Performance index, but upfront I do not expect much on this.
I’ll keep you informed about my findings!
Hi Bob,
loving the site, there is so few places on the web for Libretto owners, Just a real quick question for you. I have a Libretto U100 and it works great with an external monitor. However i was looking at getting a widescreen monitor and i can see the that resolutions supported on the u100 are not widescreen. I tried intel for a driver update but it does not install with error about how its custom hardware, tried Toshiba site for driver update but none to be found. Is there any thing i can do to make it work? im running XP.
PS- had to contact you this way as the verification thing on your contact page is not working. The anti spam thing does not accept ant input.
thanks, Merdoc
I’ll have a look at the contact forum.

Yeeha, de fingerprint reader is also working. Windows & found a solution (driver) and i nstalled it all automatically.
are you required to upgrade the memory to 1GB?
Not required, I think Windows 7 just should on 512MB, but 1GB is higly preferable.
i just installed Windows 7 on my PC. i just hope that it is as stable as Windows XP.
Bob, did you ever figure out what the one unknown device was?
also did you find video drivers?
